I am Sécilia Somaroo-IJsbrandij. As a self-taught artist, I follow my own path in the world of contemporary art. Creativity runs in my blood — passed down from home, especially from my mother. Painting became my way of making emotions, stories, and impressions visible.
An adventurous, emotional process
Painting is, for me, an adventurous and emotional process. With every brushstroke, I translate my inner world onto the canvas. Intense colors, dynamic contrasts, and powerful compositions — that is Sissi's signature.
Metro Expo Amsterdam 2024
Beyond the studio, Sissi's art also seeks out public space. In 2024, the artwork Meilani was on display during the Metro Expo in Amsterdam — a special experience in which art became part of the daily commute for thousands of passersby.
I hope my work is a source of light. A reminder of the power of beauty, and an invitation to let deeper feelings in. Whether one is an art connoisseur or admiring a canvas for the first time, every piece is a journey toward the soul.
