FIREWORKS
Barokke Explosie (Baroque Explosion)
An explosion of color against a dark background, where a baroque ornament emerges from the shadows. A study in contrast, built from fire, night and graceful lines.
THE COLOR
Fireworks against the night
The background is deep and dark, from black to petrol blue, like an evening sky just before the fireworks begin. From the center it bursts loose: red, green, yellow, pink and turquoise in thick, bold layers, around a black-and-white marbled core. To the right of the center, a baroque ornament appears, applied to the background with spray paint, silvery and half hidden behind the color. White dotted trails and streaks shoot outward like sparks. The fine lines are drawn with a thin brush, the thick paint is applied with a palette knife, and different tools were used for each of the shapes.
THE NAME
Why Barokke Explosie
Baroque stands for abundance, curls and elegance, a style that never settles for less. The ornament in the background is the starting point; the explosion of color in front of it completes the piece. Together they form a work in which classical refinement and pure energy meet.
