Meteorische Regen (Meteor Shower)

A night sky breaking open, where stars fall and leave trails of light. A study in movement, built from blue, gold and silver.

Meteorische Regen

The canvas shifts from bright sky blue to deep midnight blue in the corners, like an evening slowly growing dark. In between, cobalt and indigo swirl in spirals, while warm touches of peach, ochre and lemon yellow shoot through the image like fragments. Gold and silver light up between the layers, and white dots and small crosses appear like stars just becoming visible. The fine lines are drawn with a thin brush, the thick paint is applied with a palette knife, and different tools were used for each of the shapes.

The blue and dark blue together form a starry sky, and from the center that sky seems to break open. Every shape shooting outward is a meteor with its own tail of light. Not one falling star, but a whole shower at once. That is where the name comes from: the moment the night briefly gives more light than the day.

Anyone who has ever seen a falling star on a clear night knows that small moment of silence. Holding your breath, quickly making a wish before the light disappears. Meteorische Regen captures the night when that happens not once, but again and again. Light is falling everywhere, there is room for a wish everywhere. A canvas to hold on to that night, so the wishes never run out.

This energy, this palette. Meteorische Regen can serve
